Its been really hard trying to book a pool that has what we need and that will allow us to practice multi craft rescues etc.
Most pools want either a SUP only session, a Canoe only session or a Kayak only session.
At davepaddles.co.uk we have been discussing these options for over a year and to be honest its been an uphill struggle.
Davepaddles is a multi craft all inclusive club, catering for all craft and we endeavour to rescue all craft from all craft and continually improve and practice our techniques.
Having somewhere we can try these out in a safe and warm environment is a great benefit to the club as well as its members.
With much work, the committee has secured a booking at a great location with great facilities that answers all of our needs, from beginners to the more experienced.
We now have a multi craft pool booking for every month throughout the year.
This morning was spent at the clubhouse pressure washing and cleaning craft etc.
Today was our first session, with kayaks of different types to different types of canoe and a SUP, 6 people entered the water eventually, (someone had SATNAV issues).
From spray deck training, to eskimo rolling and self rescue to the hand of god as well as peer multi craft rescues we covered it all.
Everyone had an improvement on ability and confidence, as well as the little things like remembering to take a towel. (actually one person didn’t)
