Our 1st event from our social side of the club was held on Thursday 6th Feb 2025 at the Hollywood Bowl in Watford, this event was organised by Clare who did a great job in encouraging 6 of us to attend.
We had a great couple of hours, with many laughs and good conversation as well as great company.
Dave, Pete and Zoe used to bowl quite seriously almost 20 years ago but were forbidden to show any form of coaching. although they tried haha.
Peter turned up with his full attire of kit including hook balls shoes and wrist supports, where as Dave had to smuggle his shoes there and even cut a sock up just in case he couldn’t slide, the venue no longer insists on you hiring shoes and do not supply them now, although we saw racks of shoes at the centre which are most probably league bowlers.
Leslie ran away with the first game and bowled very well. Dave had no problem sliding (some say a little too much) but picking up his spares and hitting the pins with Peters hook ball seemed a challenge too far.
We played 2 games across two lanes with 3 players per lane, swapping lanes after the first game.
We all had a great evening out and what a great start to our social side, we have lots more ideas including pool, snooker, a curry night, golf, putt shack and maybe even go carting and skiing.
Our club is not all just about the paddling, We stand by our core values which are building friendships and keeping the mind and body active. we strive to grow as a club and work hard behind the scenes to bring interesting activities for members and friends.
