Peer Paddle and AGM

A peer paddle before our annual AGM.

On the water for 10am we paddled up to the lock closest to the Aquadrome and waited for Chris to catch us up, after some 15 mins and no sign of him we decided to return, meeting up with Chris on the side with a few tech issues, but all was good.

We then ventured into the Colne to the 1st weir, advising paddlers of the dangers etc.

Backtracking we spoke to another paddler in a touring kayak that was also exploring the waterway, turning left just before the main GUC we ventured up to what’s known as the “W” weir, by the sea cadets launch, we sat for a moment as Dave retrieved a dead Pidgeon entangled on fishing line and with the help of a passerby that said “it’s been there for a week” disposed of it in a dustbin.

Crossing the GUC we went up to the old waterways plant taking the right fork and ducking the pipes before having another 5 mins to chat.

Returning back to base we all discussed our time on the water together and decided how we were going to exit.

Tony was like a rocket up out, dried and changed and relaxing in the carpark with graham.

The rest of us decided on the steps next to the clubhouse and as a team we all managed “eventually” a dry exit.

It was a great “about an hour’s” paddle and just really nice to be on the water with friends.

Our AGM went well and sets us up for or new membership year.
