Winter Hydropaddle At Tring 21st December
It was delightful to know that the Grand Junction Arms at Tring had reopened and was available for a 5k circular Hydropaddle. It was very misty heading to Tring early in the morning, but the weather turned out just right for a paddle at 1000am. With nine attendees we chose to paddle and converse, enjoying each other’s company, rather than race.

As usual Phil’s two chihuahuas wanted to fight every large dog we saw on the towpath while safe in their crate on the water and everyone completed the course without spills. Overall, a pleasant paddle in good company. At the finish the new landlord of the Grand Junction opened up for us to share Teas and coffees, which were really good, as we discussed plans for the future.

Next Hydropaddle is at Leighton Buzzard then back to Tring after that. In the meantime, next week, 28th, will be a Thames paddle, Chertsey to Teddington. Free for members and £10 for non-members this could be the start of covering the whole Thames from source to Teddington as achieved by some club members.
Don’t be put off by the weather or potential weather forecast. Good exercise, good company and great location. What more could you ask for?
