As the autumn has finally hit us the weather has also changed, we think this put a few fair-weather paddlers off.
with 9 signed up it was a struggle to marshal the event as some of our normal marshals were committed elsewhere and we almost cancelled it.
But at the last minute the hero’s changed from competing to helping.
It all changed on the morning of the event, and we were down to 6 paddlers.
It was and is always good to see new paddlers joining us this early on a Sunday morning.
Thanks, go to Peter who always arrives early to help set up and decide on the parking requirements.
All went like clockwork after the usual safety brief for a 9am start,

The autumn colours on the canal were on full show and the bridges looked spectacular with barely a ripple on the water but there was a lot of fallen leaves and the odd tree branch in the water.

Nevertheless the 6 paddlers all competed the 5K journey without a single swimmer.
However, Another Peter, managed to break his paddle (or loose a bit of it) But his Valeter (Dave) managed to save the day and eventually he finished. (1.38.31) I am sure he will be faster next time.
Well done Patrick for the 47.52 good effort. the fastest of the event .
Next event is 15th Dec then Leighton Buzzard in the new year, returning to Tring in Feb 25. Keep your eyes on the website for updates.
