Hampton Molesey Aquapaddle 4th May 2025

On a bright and warm day of Sat 3rd, Dave ventured down to East Grinstead to collect another craft for the club, this time a Dagger GT Max 8.10, a boat for a taller paddler. another great addition to our ever growing club fleet.

On the way back a stop of at Apps court once again was planned, although this time the place was rammed packed with holiday makers as it was a bank holiday weekend.

Steak, onions, boiled potatoes and beans were followed up by a few drinks in the weir pub, just short of Sunbury lock.

We had our eyes and ears on the weather report for the AP on the Sunday, but as this seemed to be a Dave event we were some what confident as we departed the pub and went home and to bed.

Dave as usual was was up and out as the sun rose, monitoring the weather. It was cold in the shade, yet noticeably warmer in the sun and although the wind was upper end of our remit to paddle, that’s what we are trained to do, and dynamic assessments are needed.

All seemed good alas the gusts of wind were forecast for 19 mph,

23 Paddlers had signed up, But Dave convinced one to help with marshalling as Two marshals couldn’t make it on the day.

That left 22 paddlers, covered by 7 Marshals.

We had a great day, with lots of friendships made. Oscar Propulsion was also in attendance lending out their great range of bespoke paddles for paddlers to try, also now affiliated to AquaPaddleUK.

Fastest 5K time was James with a 26.54, and the last paddler home was Anna with a 1hr.09. Well done to all who paddled, Aquapaddle is not all about the timings, its about the getting out there and enjoying yourself.
