AquaPaddle Tring 13th Oct 2024

On a cold Oct morning the numbers changed from 14 to 9 paddlers, and 6 marshals paddling this month’s AquaPaddle, 5K free event.

With many returning paddlers and some new, and even some staying overnight as not to miss the start time.

The usual safety brief was given by the captain in the carpark to shave off a few mins and ensure everyone was not standing around when they could have got cold.

Liz and Zoe started the paddlers off as Dave made a bee line for section 3 and the turn around point at full paddle power.

Mike was covering section 2 with Liz covering section 1.

Winny, Adam and Gemma took the lead and just as Dave reached the halfway mark, they were right behind him.

All turned successfully and with a fancy step back turn from Gemma on her long board they were on their way back.

The event was won by Winny and there was a photo finish for Adam and Gemma.

Winny and Gemma decided to paddle a bit more with Gemma practicing her moves, In and out of the water, this led to Liz being able to practice a rescue technique ahead of her Leader Assessment.

Everyone had a great time; new friends were made, and some great networking was done.

We already have 4 signed up for November, see the AquaPaddle website to sign up or register.

A massive thanks once again for all of our marshals, Pete, Zoe, Mike, Liz, Monica you are all stars.

Lastly a great thanks To the Grand Junction Arms for accommodating us.

  1. Great fun this morning in Tring.
Really looked after by Dave and his volunteers. Professional and always freindly. Great to have a catch and beverage hot or cold in the grand junction arms pub after the race.
    Thanks to the volunteers
